QUETTA: Security forces have killed more than 71 terrorists during Operation Shaban and other security operations across Balochistan over the past 96 hours, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The military’s media wing said security forces conducted intelligence-based operations after intelligence agencies identified multiple militant hideouts in the Shaban area of District Quetta.
During Operation Shaban, security forces engaged militants and cleared several hideouts. According to ISPR, 33 terrorists have been killed so far during the operation, while weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered.
The operation was intensified over the last 72 hours, resulting in the killing of 23 terrorists, the ISPR said. Security forces also cleared a significant area and reduced the threat faced by local communities from militant groups.
The clearance operation is continuing to completely neutralise the security threat in the area, according to the military.
ISPR said the intelligence-based action was launched after security agencies detected the presence of militants in hideouts that posed a threat to the local population.
The military statement alleged that the militants were part of groups described by authorities as Fitna Al-Khawarij and Fitna Al-Hindustan and accused them of being supported by India and elements based in Afghanistan.
ISPR further alleged that the Afghan Taliban regime’s involvement in activities supporting terrorism in Pakistan, along with Indian backing, continued to pose challenges to Pakistan’s security and regional stability.
Security forces have intensified operations across Balochistan following intelligence reports of militant activity. Authorities say clearance operations will continue until the identified threats are fully eliminated.
The latest operation highlights the ongoing security challenges in Balochistan, where security forces continue to conduct operations against militant networks and their alleged support infrastructure.
