LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday rejected the police’s plea for the physical remand of Sher Shah, son of Aleema Khan, in connection with the May 9 Jinnah House attack case.

The ATC announced its verdict after reviewing the police request for extended custody and instead ordered that Sher Shah be sent to jail on judicial remand. The case had been registered earlier by Lahore’s Sarwar Road Police over the attack on Jinnah House during the May 9 violence.

Following the hearing, PTI leader Salman Akram Raja addressed the media, stating that Sher Shah’s bail application would be submitted either today or tomorrow. He also clarified that Aleema Khan’s earlier remarks about family ties had been misrepresented, noting there was no dispute within the family.

Raja further commented on the political situation, claiming PTI’s founder had decided against participating in the Punjab by-elections. He criticised the electoral process as “artificial,” alleging it was designed to strengthen an “artificial assembly.”

The May 9 violence cases remain among the most sensitive legal and political issues facing PTI leaders and supporters.
