ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir will attend a high-level meeting under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement in Riyadh today.
According to the Foreign Office, the Pakistani officials will participate in a meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee (SPDC), established under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.
Foreign and defence ministers, along with chiefs of general staff from Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, will also attend the meeting.
The participants are expected to discuss the latest regional developments and review ongoing cooperation under the framework of the Makkah Agreement.
The Foreign Office said Pakistan’s participation reflects its commitment to promoting regional peace, stability and collective security.
The meeting comes after a gathering of the chiefs of defence forces and chiefs of general staff of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye in Riyadh last month.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military leaders strongly condemned attacks targeting the Holy City of Makkah, as well as civilian and economic infrastructure.
The participants appreciated the vigilance and professionalism of the Saudi Armed Forces in ensuring the safety of the people and protecting the security of the Kingdom.
The three countries also discussed measures to further strengthen defence cooperation, including enhanced intelligence sharing, military coordination and capability integration.
The discussions were aimed at strengthening deterrence and developing effective mechanisms for collective defence among the three countries.
The military leaders also reaffirmed the longstanding relations and mutual trust between the people and armed forces of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye.
They noted that the Riyadh meeting demonstrated the strength of the trilateral defence partnership and reflected a shared determination to translate the commitments of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement into practical military cooperation.
The latest meeting is expected to provide further momentum to coordination among the three countries amid evolving regional security challenges.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye have continued to emphasise closer strategic and defence ties, with the Makkah Agreement providing a framework for enhanced cooperation and collective security.
