Karachi: The Government of Sri Lanka has appointed Mr. Sanjeewa Pattiwila as the Consul General at the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Karachi, Pakistan.
Mr. Pattiwila joined the Sri Lanka Public Service in 1999 after graduating from the University of Kelaniya. He entered the Department of Commerce in 2005, where he currently serves as Director of Commerce. Over the course of nearly 25 years of public service, he has held several key diplomatic and administrative positions.
He has served at Sri Lanka Missions in Sweden, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia in various capacities, including as First Secretary (Commercial), Counsellor and most recently as Minister (Commercial) at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh from 2019 to 2023.
Mr. Sanjeewa Pattiwila holds a Master’s Degree in Financial Economics from the University of Colombo, a Postgraduate Diploma in Development Studies and Public Policy from the Open University of Sri Lanka, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management (Hons) from the University of Kelaniya.
He possesses extensive expertise in the areas of trade policy, Rules of Origin, customs procedures, and Certificates of Origin, and has represented Sri Lanka in numerous bilateral and multilateral trade negotiations.
The Government of Sri Lanka is confident that Mr. Sanjeewa Pattiwila’s experience and commitment will further strengthen the bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, with a particular focus on trade, economic cooperation, and people-to-people ties.
