OGRA raises petrol and diesel prices on 19 August 2026

ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has increased petrol and diesel prices for one day, according to a notification issued on Tuesday.

The government increased the petrol price by Rs3.34 per litre, taking the new price to Rs334.54 per litre, the Petroleum Division said.

The price of high-speed diesel has also been increased by Rs5.27 per litre, bringing the new rate to Rs395.69 per litre.

The Petroleum Division issued the notification following approval from OGRA.

The price increase comes after the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) approved a Rs1.34 per litre increase in the dealers’ margin on petrol and diesel. The move was aimed at addressing the demands of fuel station operators.

Under the decision, the dealers’ margin has been increased from Rs8.64 to Rs9.98 per litre, with the revised margin taking effect immediately.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was briefed on the decision and supported the increase.

The ECC meeting was chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and held virtually at the Ministry of Finance.

Following the government’s assurance on the dealers’ margin, the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association postponed its planned nationwide strike scheduled for August 15, 2026.

The association had threatened to close petrol stations across the country over its demands. Following the government’s decision, it announced that petrol stations would remain open.

The latest fuel price adjustment is expected to affect transportation and other fuel-related costs across the country.
