RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Navy ships HUNAIN and YARMOOK have seized more than 2,800 kilograms of narcotics worth approximately $750 million during a joint counter-narcotics operation in the Arabian Sea, sources citing the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
According to ISPR, the naval vessels were conducting a routine patrol when they intercepted a suspicious boat in the Arabian Sea. During a boarding operation, naval personnel searched the vessel and recovered a large quantity of narcotics concealed in hidden compartments.
The successful operation highlights Pakistan Navy’s ongoing efforts to strengthen maritime security and prevent the use of Pakistan’s maritime routes for illicit trafficking.
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf commended the officers and crew of the two ships for their professionalism, vigilance and successful execution of the counter-narcotics operation.
He reaffirmed the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to maintaining maritime security and combating illegal trafficking activities at sea.
Meanwhile, security forces have continued operations against militants in Balochistan. According to ISPR, 33 India-backed militants have been killed since September during separate operations against Fitna al-Khawarij.
In Operation Shaban, security forces killed five militants on September 24, bringing the total number of militants killed during the operation to 22. Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from militant hideouts, according to the military’s media wing.
In a separate intelligence-based operation conducted in Nushki on September 25, security forces killed 11 militants and effectively targeted their hideout.
ISPR said clearance operations were continuing in the area to eliminate remaining threats.
The military stated that operations against foreign-sponsored terrorism would continue, reaffirming its efforts to counter militant activities across Balochistan.
The seizure of the narcotics in the Arabian Sea and ongoing security operations on land reflect Pakistan’s continued focus on countering illicit trafficking and security threats through coordinated operations by its armed forces.
