QUETTA: Security forces killed four terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Hindustan during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Panjgur district, security sources said on Monday.
The operation was conducted under Operation Radd-ul-Fitna 3 as security forces continued counterterrorism operations against militants in different parts of the province.
According to security sources, the operation was launched in the Aphan-e-Koh area of Prom, Panjgur, following reports about the presence of terrorists in the area. During the operation, security personnel engaged the militants, resulting in an exchange of fire.
Four terrorists were killed during the exchange, while a large quantity of modern weapons and ammunition was recovered from their possession, the sources said.
Security forces said operations against militants were continuing in the area, adding that counterterrorism efforts would remain underway until the elimination of remaining terrorist elements.
The latest operation comes a day after security forces carried out another successful operation near Kalat in Balochistan, where militants had allegedly established a checkpoint on the N-25 highway to disrupt public movement.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the terrorists had set up the checkpoint for activities including kidnappings, extortion and vehicle snatching.
Following timely action by security forces, five terrorists were killed and 23 kidnapped individuals were safely recovered from militant hideouts, the ISPR said.
Security forces also recovered six trucks, three buses and two cars during the operation.
A significant quantity of weapons, ammunition and explosives was also seized from the militants’ hideouts, according to the ISPR.
The successive operations highlight continued security actions against militant groups in Balochistan, particularly in areas where authorities report the presence of armed elements and threats to public movement.
Security forces have reiterated their resolve to continue operations against terrorism and prevent militants from disrupting peace and security in the province.
