ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has reduced the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel for October 2026, providing limited relief to consumers.
According to the notification, the price of petrol has been reduced by 14 paisas per litre, bringing the new rate down to Rs387.40 per litre.
The price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has also been reduced by Rs1.89 per litre. Following the adjustment, diesel will be available at Rs400.35 per litre. The revised petroleum prices will take effect from October 1, 2026.
The government has also introduced a Petrol Relief Scheme for eligible consumers. Under the scheme, motorcycle and Cingchi rickshaw owners can receive a discount of Rs100 per litre on purchases of up to 20 litres of petrol per month.
Owners of vehicles with engines up to 800cc are eligible for discounted petrol of up to 30 litres per month.
Consumers seeking to benefit from the scheme are required to complete registration through SMS. Applicants can send “REG”, followed by their CNIC number, vehicle registration number, the first word of their province name and vehicle registration date to 9771.
After successful registration, applicants will receive a confirmation message on their mobile phone.
To obtain discounted petrol, registered consumers need to send “TOK” to 9771 before visiting a participating petrol station. A token number will then be sent to their mobile phone.
The consumer must present the token number at the petrol station to receive the discounted fuel. A confirmation message will be issued after the transaction is completed.
The latest adjustment comes as motorists continue to monitor changes in petroleum prices, which directly affect transportation and other household and business costs.
With the new rates effective from October 1, petrol will now cost Rs387.40 per litre, while high-speed diesel will be sold at Rs400.35 per litre.
The Petrol Relief Scheme is aimed at providing targeted assistance to eligible low-capacity vehicle owners through subsidised petrol purchases.
