Petrol rises to Rs.396.65, diesel falls to Rs394.94 per litre

ISLAMABAD: The government has increased the price of petrol by Rs1.82 per litre while reducing the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by 91 paisa, with the revised rates taking effect from October 8, 2026.

According to the Petroleum Division, the new petrol price has been fixed at Rs396.65 per litre, up from Rs394.83. The price of HSD has been reduced to Rs394.94 per litre from Rs395.85.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revised the ex-depot prices under the government’s petroleum pricing mechanism. The adjustment was made in line with changes in international oil prices, Platts rates, premiums and other related costs.

The latest revision comes a day after the government increased petrol by Rs1.19 per litre and reduced HSD by Rs1.91 per litre.

International oil prices also remained elevated on Wednesday, with Brent crude trading above $100 a barrel amid concerns over supply disruptions. Brent futures rose $1.29, or 1.28%, to $101.87 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude increased 22 cents, or 0.25%, to $89.66.

Oil markets were influenced by a decline in US crude inventories and concerns over global supply disruptions. According to the US Energy Information Administration, crude inventories fell by 3.2 million barrels to 424.1 million barrels in the week ended October 2.

The latest petroleum price adjustment is expected to affect transport and other costs, while the diesel reduction may provide some relief to users of diesel-powered vehicles and businesses.
