LAHORE: Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has pledged to seek a six-month waiver of electricity bills for flood-affected families, alongside personally covering marriage expenses for nine girls from displaced households.

During his visit to Mohlanwal in Lahore, flood victims informed the governor that their dowry and household goods had been swept away by floodwaters. He assured them that the government would extend full support, adding that damages to homes and livestock would be compensated.

The governor also toured Chiniot, where he inspected relief camps, health facilities, and field hospitals established for flood victims. Deputy Commissioner Safiullah Gondal and District Police Officer Abdullah Ahmed briefed him on rehabilitation measures. He expressed satisfaction with the district administration’s response, noting that machinery and medical teams were actively engaged in relief operations.

Speaking to the media, Sardar Saleem Haider said he would write to the Prime Minister to waive electricity bills for at least six months. He also vowed to request the Punjab Chief Minister to consider loan waivers for affected communities.

The governor emphasized that flood victims would not be left alone in their hardship, adding that collective efforts were needed to help them recover from the devastation.
