Karachi: The launching ceremony of Asmaan and its logo was held at an impressive ceremony on Wednesday at Karachi Press Club.
The Association of Sports Media Alliance has been established by senior sports journalists.
Head coach of Pakistan cricket team, Sarfraz Ahmed, who was the chief guest at the occasion, said that it is very heartening that senior journalists have formed a body that will promote quality and objective journalism in the country.
Sarfraz Ahmed congratulating the initiative hoped that Asmaan would play a pivotal role in the enhancement and growth of
sports.
Founding members of Asmaan, Syed Yahya Hussaini, Shahid Hashmi, Ehsan Qureshi, Abdul Majid Bhatti, and Atiq ur Rehman speaking on the occasion said that the basic aim of Asmaan is the welfare of the journalists and helping those journalists who are in dire need of any help and assistance.
They said that Asmaan is not in competition with any other body. Our sole objective is to promote healthy sports and healthy sports journalism in the country.
The ceremony was attended among others by Syed Wasim Hashmi, former cricketers, Tauseef Ahmed, Fawad Alam, former president of Snooker Association of Pakistan, Alamgir Shaikh, and former secretary of PHF, Haider Hussain.
