Breaking the Silence: Session Highlights Pathways to Resilience and Justice for Survivors of Violence

Karachi:  Khudi Foundation, in partnership with PLUS, Sparks Business Club, and Mariam Faisam Amin (MFA), hosted a powerful session titled “Breaking Cycles of Violence: Empowering Non-Violent Resistance for Mental Wellbeing” at its headquarters in DHA Phase 7, Karachi.
The event brought together distinguished speakers, legal experts, wellness trainers, and social entrepreneurs to shed light on gender-based violence (GBV), the importance of non-violent resistance, and strategies to build resilience and mental wellbeing among survivors.
The session opened with a recitation from the Holy Quran and the National Anthem, followed by a welcome speech. Expert speakers delivered impactful talks, including:
• Ms. Salma Habib Bhutto, Program Manager, PLUS — Understanding the Legal Framework: Laws Protecting Women from Violence
• Ms. Sarwat Nasim Shah, Managing Director, Zaamin Group — Breaking Cycles of Violence: Empowering Non-Violent Resistance for Mental Wellbeing
• Ms. Syeda Raafia Hasan, Founder & Chairperson, Sparks Business Club — Gender-Based Violence in the Digital Space: A Barrier to Women’s Empowerment
• Mr. Altaf Hussain Khoso, CEO, PLUS — Access to Justice: Procedures, Protections, and Legal Remedies for GBV Survivors
• Ms. Mariam Faisal Amin, Wellness Trainer & Smile Coach — Smiling and Gratitude through Pain: Resilience and Hope with through smile & gratitude.
• Ahmer Iqbal, Acid Attack Survivor — shared his true story of resilience and survival, moving the audience with his powerful journey of strength and hope.
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, followed by refreshments and networking opportunities.
Khudi Foundation emphasized that breaking cycles of violence requires collective efforts from legal, social, and wellness sectors, alongside community support, to ensure a safe and empowered future for all.
