KARACHI — In a vibrant celebration of national pride and social uplift, the Education Foundation Sindh (EFS) marked Independence Day with a flag-hoisting ceremony at the Government Boys and Girls Primary and Secondary School, Shireen Jinnah Colony Campus. The event highlighted a shared vision for accessible schooling, celebrating the transformative philanthropic impact of Ms. Sayeeda Leghari, CEO of Sukkur Beverages and adoptive benefactor of the school campus.
Transforming Lives Through Dedicated Philanthropy
Addressing an audience of educationists, legal experts, local leaders, parents, and students, Ms. Sayeeda Leghari captured the spirit of the initiative, describing the provision of mass education as Sadqah-e-Jariya (everlasting charity).
Over an 18-year journey of school adoption, Ms. Leghari’s sustained investment has turned local facilities into beacons of hope. Today, over 3,000 boys and girls receive completely free education from kindergarten through matriculation. Her initiative ensures that no child is left behind by supplying:
* Full Educational Coverage: Free tuition, textbooks, and essential stationery.
* Student Welfare: Free uniforms and dedicated learning facilities tailored for both boys and girls.
* Quality Instruction: A highly trained, dedicated teaching staff focused on academic excellence.
Mr. Ghanwar Ali Leghari, Managing Director of EFS, praised Ms. Leghari’s commitment and shared the expanding footprint of the foundation, which operates under the leadership of the Chief Minister of Sindh (Chairman) and the Education Minister (Vice Chairman).
The foundation's remarkable impact includes:
- Widespread Reach: Funding over 3,000 government and private schools across every district of Sindh, impacting more than 1 million students.
- Women Empowerment: Employing 30,000 teachers, of which 20,000 are female educators, actively driving women’s socioeconomic advancement.
- Inclusion & Diversity: Educating 300,000 female students and 100,000 minority students, with targeted outreach in remote, unserved zones across Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, and coastal regions.
- Comprehensive Scholarships: Over 4,000 full scholarships, complemented by hostel facilities, daily meals, uniforms, books, pocket money, and transportation stipends to help students complete intermediate studies and beyond.
The Independence Day event concluded with colorful cultural performances by students, flag hoisting, and refreshments distributed to celebrate both national freedom and the power of knowledge.
