LARKANA: Four people were killed when armed assailants opened fire on a car in Larkana over a longstanding land dispute, police said on Wednesday.
The incident occurred in the Lahori Mohalla area, where the attackers targeted a vehicle carrying several people. According to police, a woman travelling in the car remained unharmed during the shooting, while the attackers managed to escape from the scene.
The bodies of the deceased were shifted to the Trauma Centre for necessary legal and medical procedures.
Police identified the victims as Allah Warhayo, Mansoor Khokhar and Ali Sher Khokhar. The fourth victim was identified as the car driver, Ghulam Mohib.
According to police officials, the deceased and the woman belonged to Hasan Wahan village in Naudero. The victims had reportedly been involved in a longstanding land dispute with members of their own community.
The incident prompted immediate action from the Sindh police leadership. Inspector General of Police Sindh Javed Alam Odho sought a detailed report from the DIG and SSP Larkana regarding the attack.
The IGP directed police authorities to launch an effective investigation and take intelligence-based measures to identify and arrest those involved in the deadly shooting.
Odho also instructed law-enforcement officials to intensify search operations in the area and strengthen security arrangements, including check-posts and surveillance.
He directed the police to ensure that the suspects responsible for the attack are arrested at the earliest and brought to justice.
The latest incident has once again highlighted the risks associated with longstanding land disputes, particularly when disagreements escalate into armed violence.
Police officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack and attempting to determine the exact motive and identities of the assailants. Further developments are expected as the investigation progresses.

Police said the incident occurred in the Nai Abadi Arain Wala area. The victim, identified as Azam, had reportedly asked his son Saim for money, which resulted in a heated argument.
According to police, the dispute escalated when Saim allegedly opened fire on his father. Azam sustained gunshot wounds and died at the scene.
A Division police team reached the location after receiving information about the shooting and shifted the body to a hospital for a post-mortem examination.
