KARACHI: Authorities in Karachi have intensified their crackdown on the illegal parking mafia in Saddar, arresting 12 more individuals involved in extorting citizens under the pretext of parking fees.

The operation targeted members of the parking mafia who had been illegally charging motorists in central Saddar, including Regal Chowk, Abdullah Haroon Road, and surrounding areas.

Assistant Commissioner Hazim Bangwar, leading the anti-encroachment and parking mafia drive, visited Preedy Police Station and directed the registration of 12 new cases against the arrested suspects. The action follows complaints filed by the city traffic police regarding unlawful parking charges and harassment of citizens.

To date, more than 40 cases have been registered, and over 30 individuals have been taken into custody in connection with illegal parking and unauthorized fee collection.

Bangwar warned all involved that illegal parking and encroachments would not be tolerated anywhere in Karachi, urging violators to comply with the law immediately. The operation reflects the city administration’s commitment to protecting citizens from harassment and ensuring orderly traffic management in key commercial areas.
