KARACHI: The city administration has imposed a two-day ban on pillion riding across Karachi as part of enhanced security arrangements for the observance of Muharram. According to an official notification, the restriction will be in place on the 9th and 10th of Muharram. Relevant departments and law enforcement agencies have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the ban to maintain peace and order during the sensitive religious period.

In addition, the Sindh government has unveiled a comprehensive security plan for Muharram. The plan includes restrictions on processions, with a requirement for prior permission for any route changes. Authorities have also enforced a complete ban on the circulation of inflammatory audio, video, and printed materials.

The government has emphasized that no religious procession will be allowed without full security coverage. Utility services such as electricity and water are to be ensured, along with adequate street lighting and cleanliness along procession routes.

These measures are part of broader efforts to maintain communal harmony and prevent any untoward incidents during the month of Muharram. Citizens have been urged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any suspicious activity.
