MANSEHRA: Four members of the same family were killed after their car plunged into a deep ravine while travelling from Mansehra to Balakot.
According to police, the victims were travelling to Balakot for a leisure trip when the accident occurred near Namangla. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and fall into a deep ravine.
The deceased were identified as the son, daughter-in-law, grandson and granddaughter of the former chairman of the Abbottabad Education Board.
Following the accident, police and rescue teams reached the site and retrieved the victims from the ravine. The bodies were shifted to a nearby hospital for necessary procedures.
Several other individuals were reportedly injured in the incident. After receiving first aid, the injured were transferred to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital in Mansehra for further medical treatment.
The incident has raised concerns over road safety on the mountainous Mansehra-Balakot route, where sharp turns and difficult terrain can pose risks to motorists.
Police have initiated an investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the crash. Initial information suggested that the driver lost control of the vehicle before it plunged into the ravine.
Road accidents remain a frequent concern on mountainous routes, particularly where vehicles travel along winding roads and steep stretches.
Authorities and rescue teams continue to respond to such incidents and advise motorists to exercise caution, maintain safe speeds and remain alert while travelling through hilly areas.
