KARACHI: A video showing two masked armed robbers looting women at gunpoint in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Johar area has surfaced online, highlighting ongoing concerns over street crime in the city.
The footage circulating on social media shows two unidentified suspects riding a motorcycle and wearing masks to conceal their identities. The suspects appear to be dressed in shalwar kameez.
According to the video, the suspects enter a street on a motorcycle before one of them gets off and approaches four women. The armed man allegedly threatens the women with a firearm and snatches their mobile phones.
The victims can be seen appearing frightened during the incident. One woman wearing an abaya is shown running away after handing over her mobile phone to the suspect.
After collecting the phones, the armed suspect returns to his accomplice, and both men flee the area on their motorcycle.
The video has drawn attention on social media and renewed concerns over the safety of citizens, particularly in residential areas of Karachi.
In another recent incident, armed motorcyclists allegedly robbed a young man in the 13-D area of Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The incident was also captured on CCTV.
The victim, identified as Muhammad Siddiq, said he was about to enter his cousin’s home when two men on a motorcycle approached him. According to his account, the suspects threatened him with a gun and took his motorcycle, expensive watch and wallet before fleeing.
The latest footage has once again raised concerns about street crime and the need for effective measures to protect citizens in Karachi.
