KARACHI: A fire erupted on Monday at a garment factory located in Karachi’s Landhi Export Processing Zone, triggering an immediate response from emergency services. The blaze reportedly started on the second floor of the facility, prompting authorities to dispatch several fire tenders along with two snorkel units to control the situation.

Officials confirmed that the incident occurred after working hours and all workers had already evacuated the premises, preventing any loss of life. Firefighting teams continued operations using specialized equipment, expressing hope that the fire would be fully contained shortly.

Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad supervised the response and issued on-the-spot instructions to ensure safety. He directed that factory staff be kept away from the affected area and ordered surrounding buildings to remain on high alert. As a precautionary measure, electricity and gas supplies in the vicinity were temporarily cut.

Fire Brigade officials stated that multiple fire tenders and snorkel units were actively involved, while Rescue 1122 teams coordinated efforts to prevent the fire from spreading. Authorities remained on alert, stressing the need for strict safety measures, particularly in industrial zones prone to such incidents.
