ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has clarified the procedure for citizens applying for their first Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) when their parents are unavailable.
According to a NADRA spokesperson, parents are ideally required to accompany an applicant turning 18 for biometric verification. However, the process can continue if the parents are unavailable or deceased.
In such cases, the biometric verification responsibility can be transferred to a sibling whose details are recorded in the applicant’s family tree maintained by NADRA.
The authority explained that if both brothers are registered on the same B-Form or Child Registration Certificate (CRC), the sibling can accompany the applicant and complete the required biometric verification.
NADRA also said that applicants who already possess a B-Form can submit their first-time CNIC application online through the Pak ID mobile application.
The authority advised citizens to verify that their family tree information and B-Form details are complete and accurate before submitting an application.
The clarification is aimed at helping young citizens complete the CNIC registration process without unnecessary difficulties when parental verification is not possible.
