KARACHI: Karachi: Pakistan Institute of Hockey celebrated the National Day of Hockey by holding an event in Karachi that was attended by a very large number of sportsmen and people from different walks of life.
Chairman Prime Minister Youth Program, Rana Mashood Ahmed, through video message, said that the Govt is striving for the betterment of our national sport, hockey.
He said that the Govt is providing all resources to PHF for the uplift of hockey. Rana Mashood Ahmed further said that we have united different groups and wiped out the grouping and appointed a neutral adhoc president, due to these measures positive results have started, resulting in.
we have qualified for the World Cup after 8 years. He said that we have started a talent hunt program for the revival of hockey, and very soon, internationally, our national flag will fly high.
He lauded the efforts of Pakistan Institute of Hockey for their efforts in the promotion of hockey.
Retired Major General Tariq Haleem Suri, General Manager PTV Karachi, Amjad Hussain Shah, Athelete coach Muhammad Talib, Olympians Hanif Khan and Iftikhar Syed, President of PAAC Makhdoom Syed Ali Riaz, Pakistan Sports Writers Federation Secretary General Asghar Azeem, former sports producer of PTV Shahida Shoaib Rizvi, Chairman of KHA Gulfraz Khan Khalid Rehmani of Sindh Tennis Association and Director Sports Commisioner Karachi Haji Ghulam Muhammad addressed the ceremony.
Ambassador of hockey Professor Rao Javed Iqbal, Chairman Pakistan Institute of Hockey Rana Mushtaq Ahmed, president Zahid Shahab, Director Operations Rana Ashfaq Rasool and Junaid Ahmed Khan also addressed the event.
Later, the cake cutting of the National Day of Hockey was held.
