KARACHI: Pakistan Legal United Society (PLUS), in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Karachi Silver Sands, successfully organized an inspiring Showcase of Vocational Training & Rehabilitation titled "Voices Behind the Bars" on 2nd September 2026 at Karachi.
The event brought together representatives from civil society, the Chamber of Commerce, academia, professionals, and other respected members of the community, who witnessed the transformative impact of vocational training, rehabilitation, and access to justice initiatives for inmates. The showcase highlighted how access to justice, skills, creativity, confidence, and meaningful livelihood opportunities can help individuals rebuild their lives, restore dignity, and successfully reintegrate into society. From graphic designing, fine arts, and solar technician training to technical skills, employment opportunities, legal assistance, access to justice, and rehabilitation, the initiative demonstrated that rehabilitation is not simply about correction—it is about creating hope, ensuring rights, restoring dignity, and building a better future.
A Powerful Commitment to Sustained Change
A powerful commitment was made by participating stakeholders to pledge their support and contribute towards sustaining vocational training and rehabilitation centres, ensuring that these opportunities—including pathways to justice, skills development, and employment—continue to reach those who need them most.
The event marked a significant step forward in prison reform and social reintegration efforts in Pakistan, showcasing concrete models of how partnerships between legal aid organizations, civil society, and Rotary clubs can create lasting impact.

PLUS and the Rotary Club of Karachi Silver Sands remain committed to strengthening partnerships and creating sustainable pathways for access to justice, rehabilitation, empowerment, skills development, and social reintegration. Together, we can transform lives behind the bars into lives with purpose beyond the bars. The artwork made by the Women and Juvenile Inmates under the training program was exhibited for sale, all proceeds of which go to the inmates so they can support their families even while behind the bars.
