KARACHI: A major infrastructure development milestone was achieved in the city as the newly constructed Shahrah-e-Bhutto was officially inaugurated in Karachi, marking what officials described as a significant step toward improving urban mobility and easing traffic congestion in the metropolis.

The inauguration ceremony was led by Mayor of Karachi Murtaza Wahab, who highlighted the importance of modern road networks in transforming the city’s transport system and supporting long-term urban development goals. Senior officials from the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Government of Sindh were also present at the event.

Speaking at the ceremony, the mayor said that Shahrah-e-Bhutto represents a major effort to address Karachi’s long-standing traffic challenges. He noted that the project would help reduce travel time for commuters and improve connectivity between key residential, commercial, and industrial areas of the city.

According to officials, the newly inaugurated road is part of a broader infrastructure improvement plan aimed at modernizing Karachi’s transport network. The project is expected to ease pressure on existing highways and provide an alternative route for daily commuters who frequently face heavy traffic congestion.

The mayor further stated that development projects like Shahrah-e-Bhutto are essential for a rapidly growing city such as Karachi, where population growth and increased vehicle usage have placed significant strain on existing infrastructure. He added that the government is committed to continuing investment in road expansion, flyovers, and urban transport solutions.

Citizens and transport experts have welcomed the inauguration, expressing hope that the new road will significantly improve traffic flow in surrounding areas. Many commuters believe the project will help reduce delays during peak hours and contribute to smoother travel across the city.

Officials also briefed attendees on future development plans, indicating that additional road improvement projects are in the pipeline under Karachi’s urban development strategy. These initiatives aim to enhance connectivity, improve road safety, and support economic activity in the region.

The inauguration of Shahrah-e-Bhutto is being seen as a key step in Karachi’s ongoing transformation, with authorities emphasizing that continued investment in infrastructure is necessary to meet the city’s growing transportation demands and ensure sustainable urban growth in the coming years.
