KARACHI: The Government of Sindh, School Education & Literacy Department, has officially adjusted the opening timings for all educational institutions across the province in response to the ongoing "prevailing cold wave."
According to the notification issued on January 10, 2026, all public and private schools will now commence classes at 9:00 AM. This change is scheduled to take effect from January 12, 2026, and will remain in place until January 26, 2026.
The decision, approved by the Competent Authority and signed by Secretary Zahid Ali Abbasi, aims to protect students from the severe drop in early morning temperatures. All regional directors and school heads have been instructed to ensure immediate implementation of these revised hours.
