KARACHI: The Sindh government has officially announced revised school timings for all educational institutions operating under the School Education and Literacy Department, with the new schedule taking effect from August 6, 2026.
The updated timings will remain in force until further orders and apply to primary, elementary, secondary, and higher secondary schools across the province.
According to an official notification issued by the School Education and Literacy Department, all district education officers, school administrators, and relevant authorities have been instructed to strictly implement the revised schedule to ensure uniformity across government educational institutions.
For single-shift primary schools, classes from August 6 to October 31 will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. from Monday to Thursday, while Friday classes will run from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. From November 1 to March 31, school hours will change to 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on weekdays, with Friday classes ending at 1:30 p.m.
In double-shift primary schools, the first shift will operate from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. from Monday to Thursday during the August-October period, while the second shift will run from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday timings have also been adjusted for both shifts, with separate schedules announced for the winter months beginning November 1.
The revised timetable also applies to single-shift elementary, secondary, and higher secondary schools. These institutions will observe the same timings as single-shift primary schools, with classes beginning at 8:00 a.m. during the summer schedule and 8:30 a.m. during the winter schedule.
Meanwhile, double-shift elementary, secondary, and higher secondary schools will follow separate timings for morning and afternoon sessions. During the August to October period, the first shift will operate from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., while the second shift will continue from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Revised winter timings will come into effect from November 1.
Education officials said the updated schedule is intended to improve school operations and ensure consistency across educational institutions throughout Sindh. School administrations have been directed to inform teachers, students, and parents about the revised timetable and ensure smooth implementation.
The School Education and Literacy Department emphasized that the newly announced school timings will remain effective until further notification. Parents and students are advised to follow the official schedule issued by their respective schools to avoid any confusion regarding reporting and closing times.
