KARACHI: The Sindh government has officially removed the 9pm market closing restriction across the province, allowing businesses, shopping malls, restaurants, and wedding halls to remain open without fixed closing hours. The decision was announced on Saturday in a major relief for traders, shopkeepers, and the business community in Sindh.

Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon shared the notification on social media platform X and stated that the move aims to support economic growth, improve public convenience, and strengthen commercial activities in Karachi and other cities of Sindh.

According to the official notification issued by the Chief Secretary of Sindh, all shops, markets, shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, food outlets, marriage halls, and marquees are now exempted from the earlier restrictions imposed under the Home Department’s notification related to business timings.

The decision effectively ends the mandatory 9pm market closure rule that had affected traders and consumers across the province. Business owners had repeatedly demanded relaxed market timings, especially ahead of the busy shopping season and upcoming Eid-ul-Azha celebrations.

Traders and citizens welcomed the Sindh government’s decision, saying the revised market timings in Karachi would boost commercial activities, increase customer traffic, and support small businesses struggling with economic challenges and inflation in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government had earlier announced revised business timings until June 1 before Eid-ul-Azha. According to a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, markets in Lahore are allowed to remain open until 10pm under the temporary schedule.

The latest development regarding Sindh market timings has become a trending topic online, with many people searching for updates about Karachi market timings, Sindh government notifications, and new business hours in Pakistan.

Economic experts believe the relaxation in market closing hours could positively impact retail sales, restaurants, wedding industry businesses, and shopping malls across Sindh. Officials say the decision reflects the government’s commitment to balancing economic activity with public convenience and business growth.
