KARACHI: A 17-year-old girl lost her life after being hit by a bullet while travelling in a rickshaw during an alleged police encounter near Korangi No. 6 Market in Landhi. .
Police said the incident took place when officers encountered suspected robbers in the crowded market area. During the chase, the suspects allegedly resorted to indiscriminate firing. Amid the exchange of gunfire, a bullet struck the teenage girl, who was returning home with her mother and younger brother after visiting a relative.
Officials confirmed that the girl, the only sister of two brothers, died at the scene. Police claimed one suspect, identified as Mola Bakhsh, was injured and arrested, while his accomplice escaped on a motorcycle with the looted cash.
Videos circulating on social media showed the suspect being apprehended, followed by a brief assault by onlookers before police intervened. Authorities said investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the fatality.
