QUETTA: Security forces killed 48 suspected militants in intelligence-based operations across Balochistan over the past 72 hours, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said on Friday.
According to ISPR, the operations were conducted in Mastung, Quetta, Kalat and Sibi districts against groups the military described as Indian-sponsored proxies, including Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij.
In Mastung, six militants were killed during an exchange of fire on September 4, while an operation in Shaban, Quetta, resulted in 26 more being killed, ISPR said. Security forces also killed two militants in Kalat and two others in Sibi after thwarting an alleged attack on a police station.
The military said ammunition and improvised explosive devices were also recovered and destroyed during the operations.
ISPR added that 12 militants had earlier been killed in a separate operation in Kalat on September 2 after security forces identified and raided a suspected militant hideout.
The military said sanitisation operations were continuing in the affected areas and that counterterrorism efforts would continue under the government’s “Azm-e-Istehkam” framework.
