ISLAMABAD: Global aviation services provider Menzies Aviation has expressed strong interest in expanding its operations in Pakistan, signaling growing international confidence in the country’s aviation and investment landscape. The development emerged during a meeting between Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and Hassan El Houry, Chairperson of Menzies Aviation, held in Davos on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting.
The discussion focused on enhancing cooperation in Pakistan’s aviation sector, improving airport services, increasing operational efficiency, and exploring new investment opportunities aligned with the government’s economic reform and privatisation agenda. Senator Aurangzeb briefed the Menzies Aviation chairperson on Pakistan’s ongoing privatisation plans, including progress related to Pakistan International Airlines and the proposed outsourcing of operations at major airports such as Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore.
The finance minister highlighted that Pakistan’s economy is moving in a positive direction, supported by structural reforms and improved macroeconomic stability. He noted that these developments are creating a more conducive environment for private sector investment, foreign partnerships, and long-term growth in key sectors, including aviation and logistics.
Hassan El Houry shared insights into Menzies Aviation’s global footprint and expertise, noting that the company provides aviation services at more than 350 airports across over 60 countries. He identified Pakistan as a promising destination for aviation-related business and investment, citing its strategic location and growing demand for modern airport services. El Houry also highlighted the importance of Sialkot as a logistics and aviation hub and expressed interest in expanding Menzies Aviation’s engagement in Pakistan.
Both sides discussed measures to enhance airport service quality, modernise ground handling operations, and improve the overall passenger experience. The talks concluded on a positive note, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to strengthening cooperation and developing mutually beneficial partnerships.
During his visit to Davos, Senator Aurangzeb also held meetings with key international stakeholders, including the President of the Asian Development Bank. These discussions focused on Pakistan’s economic reforms, privatisation initiatives, energy sector modernisation, and investment-led growth strategy. The ADB leadership acknowledged renewed momentum in Pakistan’s reforms and expressed optimism about the country’s economic direction.
The series of high-level meetings underscored Pakistan’s efforts to attract global investors, modernise infrastructure, and position itself as a competitive destination for international aviation and economic partnerships.
