A newly released Bollywood song has stirred debate online after listeners noticed striking similarities between Danger and Laal Suit, the hit soundtrack from Pakistani drama Mannat Murad.
The discussion is not so much about which version is better, but whether Bollywood has once again borrowed too heavily from Pakistan’s music scene.
Laal Suit, featured in Geo Entertainment’s romantic drama Mannat Murad starring Iqra Aziz and Talha Chahour, quickly became a fan favorite thanks to its catchy tune and playful, vibrant feel. In contrast, Danger, unveiled on August 21 as part of the upcoming film Param Sundari with Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, carries a remarkably similar beat. Listeners pointed out that not only does the Bollywood track echo the same rhythm, but its lyrics also reference a “red outfit,” adding to suspicions of imitation.
Clips comparing both songs have gone viral across social media, sparking heated debates and jokes about Bollywood’s reliance on Pakistani creativity. This is not a new accusation—Abrar ul Haq’s Nach Punjaban was also lifted as The Punjaabban Song in the 2022 film JugJugg Jeeyo, a move the singer publicly criticised.
Observers argue that the controversy underscores Pakistan’s musical strength, with its dramas, pop hits, and Coke Studio productions continuing to earn international recognition—often outshining India’s once-celebrated film music industry.
