ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, has embarked on a significant three-day official visit to the United Kingdom to enhance bilateral economic cooperation, attract foreign direct investment, and engage with senior officials, financial institutions, and global business leaders.

According to Express News, the visit is a strategic part of Pakistan’s broader initiative to boost investor confidence and spotlight the country’s evolving economic landscape and investor-friendly policies. Aurangzeb will deliver keynote addresses at various investment forums and seminars, presenting a detailed overview of Pakistan’s current economic trajectory and reform agenda.

A central feature of the visit is Aurangzeb’s participation in "Pakistan Access Day," an investment roundtable organized by Jefferies, a top-tier global investment bank. He will also join a specialized roundtable with British technology investors, focusing on emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, mining, and healthcare. He will be accompanied by Muhammad Ali, the Prime Minister’s Advisor on Investment.

Aurangzeb’s itinerary includes high-level meetings with UK government departments. He will meet Lord Livermore, the Financial Secretary to His Majesty’s Treasury, and other senior officials. The finance minister is also scheduled to hold talks with Leo Docherty, the UK’s Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Middle East, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, during a visit to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).

Further engagements include discussions at the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) with its Chair, Richard Hughes, and top staff, as well as a key meeting at the Bank of England with Governor Andrew Bailey and his team.

In addition to public sector meetings, Aurangzeb will engage with senior executives from major financial entities, including Deutsche Bank and Standard Chartered, and hold sessions with Simon Baugh of the UK Government Communication Service and Marcus Hall of Cargill Global Trading UK. Talks are also scheduled with representatives of British American Tobacco.

To round off the visit, Aurangzeb and Advisor Muhammad Ali will attend a business dinner hosted by the Pakistan High Commission, and the finance minister will participate in press interactions with international and UK media representatives, addressing Pakistan’s economic reforms and future investment plans.
