KARACHI: Gold prices in Pakistan dropped sharply on Friday, tracking a significant decline in the international bullion market. In the local market, the price of gold per tola fell by Rs21,400, settling at Rs507,762.

Likewise, the price of 10 grams of gold decreased by Rs18,347 to Rs435,324, according to figures released by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA).

Earlier in the week, gold had surged, with the per tola rate climbing to Rs529,162 after gaining Rs14,800 in a single session.

On the global front, gold prices plunged by $214 to $4,850 per ounce, inclusive of a $20 premium, reflecting pressure in international markets.

Silver prices also followed a downward trend, with the per tola rate dropping by Rs1,430 to Rs7,825.
