Imran Khan declared medically fit

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan was declared medically fit after undergoing a detailed medical examination.

According to Tarar, Imran Khan was examined at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) after being shifted from Adiala Jail under security arrangements. Doctors from Shifa International Hospital also participated in the medical assessment.

The minister said a team of specialists, including physicians, cardiologists and ophthalmologists, examined the PTI founder. Following the examination, doctors declared him medically fit, Tarar said.

He explained that the decision to take Imran Khan to PIMS was made after considering security concerns along the route and outside the hospital, where PTI workers had reportedly gathered.

Imran Khan’s sister, Uzma Khan, was also present during the medical examination, according to the federal minister.

After completing the medical assessment, the former prime minister was transferred back to Adiala Jail at around 5 a.m. Tarar said the government had provided Khan with the necessary medical facilities in the past and would continue to ensure appropriate healthcare whenever required.

The development came after the Supreme Court issued directions concerning Imran Khan’s health and medical examination while he remains in custody.

Tarar’s statement provides an update on the former premier’s health amid continued political attention surrounding his imprisonment and medical care. Authorities have said that necessary arrangements will remain in place to address any future medical requirements.
