KARACHI: Indonesia is expanding its economic engagement with Pakistan’s healthcare sector through ‘Indonesian Medica’, a dedicated showcase at Health Asia Expo & Conference 2026, being held from September 10-12 at the Karachi Expo Centre. Indonesia is the Country Partner to the Expo.
Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Health, Syed Mustafa Kamal, inaugurated Health Asia 2026 and later visited Indonesian Medica, where he joined Indonesian Consul General in Karachi Mudzakir in a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony. The high-level visit added momentum to Indonesia’s drive to strengthen its engagement in Pakistan. The Minister expressed his appreciation for the bilateral cooperation in health sector and the Consul General conveyed his gratitude for the gracing of the pavilion.
Initiated and facilitated by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Karachi, Indonesian Medica brings together the Indonesian Medical Device Ecosystem Development Association (*HIPELKI) and Indonesian companies including PT Sugih Instrumento Abadi, PT Ocean Medica and PT Eagle Indo Pharma, known for its Cap Lang products.
The showcase features medical devices, healthcare and hospital-related products, as well as consumer health and wellness products.
More importantly, the initiative is designed to go beyond product display. The Consulate General is facilitating engagement between Indonesian participants and Pakistani importers, distributors, medical-device manufacturers, hospitals, healthcare associations and other industry stakeholders.
“We want Indonesian companies not simply to exhibit products, but to understand the Pakistani market, meet the right partners and build sustainable business relationships,” Indonesian Consul General in Karachi Mudzakir said.
Pakistan’s continuing demand for imported medical devices, alongside efforts to promote local manufacturing and import substitution, offers opportunities for Indonesian companies beyond conventional exports, including distribution partnerships, technology cooperation, production machinery and joint manufacturing.
Ahead of Health Asia, the Consulate General facilitated direct engagement between HIPELKI and the Healthcare Devices Association of Pakistan (HDAP). HDAP represents around 300 importers and manufacturers, while HIPELKI brings together approximately 250 companies and stakeholders across Indonesia’s medical-device ecosystem.
“Our objective is practical: turn meetings into connections, connections into business leads, and business leads into trade and industrial partnerships,” Mudzakir said.
During Health Asia, the Consulate General will continue facilitating targeted meetings with potential Pakistani partners and industry networks, followed by post-exhibition engagement.
Through Indonesian Medica, Indonesia aims to build a more structured presence in Pakistan’s healthcare market while creating a platform for longer-term cooperation between the industries of the two countries.
