TEHRAN: Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said on Sunday that Iran is capable of sustaining an intense conflict for up to six months against the United States and Israel as the regional war continues to widen.

The conflict entered its second week with new strikes reported in Tehran and Beirut, while several Middle Eastern countries faced security threats linked to the fighting.

Iranian officials accused the United States and Israel of targeting an oil depot in the Iranian capital on Saturday, marking one of the first reported attacks on the country’s oil infrastructure. Israel’s military said it had struck multiple fuel storage facilities in Tehran that were allegedly supporting military operations.

The Israeli army also announced a new wave of attacks across Tehran on Sunday and said it had carried out a precision strike in central Beirut targeting senior commanders of the Quds Force, a foreign operations unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Regional tensions intensified further as Saudi Arabia intercepted several drones heading toward targets in the diplomatic quarter of Riyadh. Meanwhile, Kuwait reported that fuel storage tanks at Kuwait International Airport were struck in a drone attack.

The incident heightened concerns about energy security, especially as Kuwait’s national oil company announced reductions in crude production amid growing threats to the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a vital route through which roughly one-fifth of global oil and gas supplies pass.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said his earlier remarks regarding regional tensions had been misinterpreted by opponents seeking to create divisions between Iran and its neighboring countries. He reiterated that Tehran seeks good relations with regional states but would continue retaliating against attacks.

The conflict has also shaken global markets, pushing crude prices higher and triggering declines in stock markets worldwide. Explosions were reported in both Tehran and the nearby city of Karaj following Israeli strikes on fuel storage facilities.

With hostilities spreading across multiple countries and key energy infrastructure coming under threat, fears are rising that the war could further destabilize the wider Middle East and disrupt global energy su
