Morocco’s King Mohammed VI has expressed strong solidarity with Saudi Arabia, declaring that any attack on the Kingdom would be considered an attack on Morocco.
In messages to Saudi King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, King Mohammed VI reaffirmed Morocco’s support for Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, security and stability.
The Moroccan monarch condemned repeated attacks by the Houthis targeting Saudi territory, including civilian and economic facilities, critical infrastructure, cities and populated areas.
He also strongly condemned attempts to target the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah, saying such attacks were particularly serious because of their significance to Muslims worldwide.
“At this delicate moment your country is going through, historical responsibility, religious values and strategic considerations require us all to stand united,” King Mohammed VI said.
He stressed that attacks on Saudi Arabia affected not only the Kingdom, its citizens and pilgrims but also the sentiments of more than 1.8 billion Muslims around the world.
The Moroccan king held the Houthis and those supporting, financing and arming them responsible for what he described as criminal acts. He said Morocco stood with Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states in confronting threats that could undermine regional stability.
King Mohammed VI further emphasised that the security and stability of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council states were closely connected with Morocco’s own strategic interests.
“Any attack on Saudi Arabia is an attack on Morocco,” he said, reaffirming Rabat’s support for the Kingdom in addressing regional security threats.
He also warned that continued attacks could endanger vital maritime corridors that are important to international navigation and the global economy.
According to the Moroccan monarch, attacks against civilian areas, economic infrastructure and holy sites violate international humanitarian law and established international norms.
He also referred to relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, including Resolution 2216 of 2015 and Resolution 2722 of 2024, while calling for those responsible for attacks to be held accountable.
Morocco’s statement comes amid heightened regional tensions and growing concerns over attacks affecting Gulf security and important maritime routes.
The remarks underline Rabat’s position that the security of Saudi Arabia and the wider Gulf region is closely linked to broader regional stability.
