ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly condemned recent remarks made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a public rally in Rajasthan, calling them “baseless, provocative, and irresponsible,” and accusing him of stoking regional instability for short-term political advantage.
In a statement issued on Friday, Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said Modi’s comments were filled with distortions and inflammatory rhetoric, reflecting a deliberate strategy to incite tensions for domestic political gain. “Such remarks violate the principles of responsible state behavior and contradict the norms of international diplomacy,” Khan stated.
He emphasized that threats and claims of military action against a sovereign state constitute a serious breach of the United Nations Charter and established norms of international law. “This aggressive stance undermines regional peace and stability,” he added.
Pakistan, he stressed, remains a committed and reliable partner in the global fight against terrorism. Any attempt to link Pakistan with acts of terrorism is “factually incorrect and deliberately misleading.” He accused India of using such tactics to distract from internal issues and its human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Khan urged Indian leaders to show restraint and responsibility, warning that escalatory language only worsens regional tensions. “Instead of engaging in warmongering, India should pursue peaceful dialogue to resolve outstanding disputes,” he said.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peace, Khan warned that its restraint should not be misinterpreted. “Pakistan's armed forces are fully prepared to defend the nation’s sovereignty. Any aggression will be met with a resolute and proportional response.”
The spokesperson also called on the international community to take note of India’s aggressive posture, especially in light of recent military exchanges triggered by baseless accusations and missile strikes. “The road to lasting peace lies in dialogue, mutual respect, and adherence to international law,” he concluded.
