LAHORE: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has rejected circulating reports about the deteriorating eyesight of the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), calling them misleading propaganda.

Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Naqvi said that for the last several days, political circles had been spreading exaggerated claims regarding the health of PTI founder Imran Khan. He noted that some narratives falsely alleged that Khan had lost up to 85 percent of his vision or that one of his eyes had been severely damaged.

The minister disclosed that Mahmood Khan Achakzai had written to the prime minister raising concerns over the matter, after which the government maintained consistent communication with PTI leaders.

Naqvi emphasized that under constitutional and legal obligations, the government is committed to providing comprehensive medical care to any inmate. He stated that authorities had invited PTI to nominate a doctor of their choice for medical consultation. Instead, the party requested that a family member be involved in the medical process rather than selecting a specific physician.

According to the minister, both requests were accepted. Later, PTI leadership proposed shifting the founder to a hospital for a week. The government responded that if medical experts recommended hospitalization, arrangements could be made even for up to two weeks.

Naqvi further shared that an eye specialist examined Imran Khan at 3:30 pm, with both government-appointed and reputable private doctors participating in the evaluation.

He concluded by saying that PTI’s leadership expressed satisfaction with the medical care being provided to their party founder, dismissing the circulating claims as unfounded and politically motivated.
