KARACHI: Muslims across Pakistan are preparing to observe the sacred night of Shab-e-Meraj 2026 following the confirmation of the Rajab moon sighting on Sunday. The announcement was made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after its meeting chaired by Maulana Muhammad Abdul Khabeer Azad, with zonal and district committees also verifying reports nationwide.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs confirmed the start of Rajab, the seventh month of the Islamic calendar. Shab-e-Meraj, observed on the 27th night of Rajab, commemorates the miraculous night journey and ascension of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The occasion is marked by prayers, Quran recitation and devotion. Shab-e-Meraj will be observed across the country on the night of January 16, 2026.
