Oman has announced a new free 14-day tourist visa for eligible international travellers, aiming to attract more visitors and further strengthen the Sultanate’s growing tourism sector. The move is part of the government’s broader strategy to make short-term travel easier while promoting Oman as one of the Middle East’s leading tourist destinations.
The new visa scheme follows amendments to the executive regulations of Oman’s Foreigners’ Residence Law. Under the updated rules, eligible visitors from approved countries can apply for and receive a complimentary 14-day tourist visa through the relevant authorities.
According to the regulation published in the country’s official gazette on August 2, 2026, travellers entering Oman under the free visa programme will also have the option to extend their stay. Before the complimentary visa expires, visitors may apply for another eligible tourist visa, provided they meet the required conditions and pay the applicable visa fees.
Tourism officials expect the initiative to encourage more international arrivals by making travel to Oman simpler and more affordable. The visa policy is also expected to benefit the country's hospitality, aviation, transport, and retail sectors as visitor numbers continue to rise.

The 2026 Khareef season, which began on June 21, will continue until September 21. This year’s festival includes 125 cultural, artistic, sporting, and entertainment events, providing visitors with opportunities to experience Omani traditions, local cuisine, music, handicrafts, and family-friendly activities.
