ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Russia took a significant step toward enhanced industrial cooperation on Tuesday, as Russian representative Denis Nazaroof held detailed discussions with Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar Khan regarding the development of new steel mills in Pakistan.

During the meeting, both officials agreed to establish a joint working group aimed at facilitating the creation of a steel manufacturing facility in Karachi. The proposed initiative is seen as a strategic move to boost Pakistan’s industrial capacity while deepening economic ties between the two countries.

Khan highlighted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s investment-friendly vision and emphasized that now is an ideal time for foreign investors to enter the Pakistani market. “Pakistan is now seen as a secure and attractive destination for international investment,” he stated.

He reiterated the country’s growing appeal to global investors and emphasized the mutually beneficial potential of Pakistan-Russia cooperation. “There is vast untapped potential in our economic partnership. We welcome Russian businesses to explore opportunities here,” Khan added.

The discussions are expected to pave the way for significant Russian investment in Pakistan’s industrial sector, particularly in steel production—a key area for economic development and infrastructure growth.

The meeting marks an important milestone in the bilateral relationship between the two nations, signaling a shared interest in pursuing joint ventures and strengthening economic collaboration.
