ISLAMABAD: The federal government is likely to postpone the presentation of the Pakistan Budget 2026-27, which was previously scheduled for June 5, according to informed sources.
Officials said the FY2026-27 federal budget may now be presented on either June 10 or June 12, although a final decision regarding the revised budget announcement date has yet to be made. The development comes as authorities continue consultations on key fiscal matters ahead of the upcoming financial year.
Sources also confirmed that the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting, originally planned for June 3, has been postponed. The delay is reportedly linked to the regional elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, prompting adjustments to the government’s budget schedule.
In addition, Pakistan is expected to hold further discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) regarding the development budget and other important budget-related proposals. The ongoing talks are considered crucial for finalizing fiscal targets and economic reforms for the next financial year.
The federal budget 2026-27 is expected to outline the government's plans for taxation, public spending, economic growth, and development projects. Businesses, investors, and taxpayers are closely monitoring developments as the government prepares to unveil its economic roadmap for the new fiscal year.
