ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced a reduction in petrol and diesel prices, with the revised rates coming into effect from September 30.
According to the notification issued by OGRA, the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs1.49 per litre, bringing the new price to Rs387.54 per litre. The price of diesel has been cut by Rs2.73 per litre, with the new rate fixed at Rs402.24 per litre.
The revised petrol and diesel prices will remain applicable from September 30, according to the notification. Under the Petrol Relief Scheme, motorcycle and Cingchi rickshaw owners are eligible for a discount of Rs100 per litre on up to 20 litres of petrol per month.
Vehicle owners with engines of up to 800cc can avail themselves of discounted petrol of up to 30 litres per month. To register for the discounted petrol, applicants are required to send an SMS to 9771 containing REG, their CNIC number, vehicle registration number, first word of the province name and vehicle registration date. After successful registration, applicants will receive a confirmation message on their mobile phone.
To obtain a petrol token, applicants should send TOK to 9771 before visiting a petrol station. A token number will then be sent through SMS, which must be presented at the petrol station to receive the discounted petrol. A confirmation message will be sent after the transaction is completed.
