ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has resubmitted a contempt of court petition concerning the alleged violation of the Supreme Court’s order regarding the hospital transfer of PTI founder Imran Khan.
The petition, filed by Imran Khan’s sister Uzma Khan, was initially returned by the Supreme Court registrar’s office after objections were raised. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan said the party addressed the objections and resubmitted the petition.
Speaking outside the Supreme Court, Gohar said he met the registrar at the public facilitation centre and was informed about the objections. He said the party wanted the same bench to be constituted on Tuesday so the contempt case could be heard on Thursday.
The dispute relates to the Supreme Court’s August 18 order directing that Imran Khan be shifted to Shifa International Hospital for treatment for several days. The order also instructed the government to facilitate weekly meetings between Imran Khan and his family members.
Gohar alleged that the court’s order had not been implemented and requested an early hearing, stressing the importance of Imran Khan’s health and family meetings.
Separately, Uzma Khan filed an application seeking an urgent hearing of the contempt petition. The application alleges that the government failed to comply with the Supreme Court’s directions and argues that any clarification should have been sought from the relevant court.
The application asks the Supreme Court to hear the matter during the current week, warning that further delay could result in irreparable loss. The case could now come before the court for consideration following the removal of the registrar’s objections.
