ISTANBUL/ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has formally invited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to invest in the strategic M-10 Motorway project. This significant move aims to modernize the national transport infrastructure through a robust public-private partnership. Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan presented the proposal to Saudi Minister for Transport and Logistics Saleh Bin Nasser Al-Jasser during a high-level meeting on the sidelines of the OIC Conference in Istanbul on February 14, 2026.

The M-10 Motorway project features a vital new alignment connecting Karachi Port directly to Hyderabad. This 130-kilometer six-lane corridor is designed to bypass the congested urban centers of Karachi, providing a high-speed route for heavy goods traffic from the port to the upcountry network. By linking with the M-6 Motorway at Jamshoro, the M-10 will complete a critical section of Pakistan’s north-south transport backbone.

Minister Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized that the project is a commercially viable opportunity for Saudi investors, highlighting the deep-rooted economic and religious ties between the two nations. He stated that Pakistan is committed to fostering Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) to upgrade its maritime and communications sectors. The Saudi delegation expressed a keen interest in the modernization of Pakistan’s infrastructure, specifically noting the importance of digitalization, road surveillance, and the potential expansion of flight operations between the two brotherly countries.

Beyond road infrastructure, the discussions also covered maritime affairs and regional connectivity. Saudi Arabia is looking to leverage Pakistan's strategic location to enhance trade corridors toward Central Asia. This collaboration follows a series of recent diplomatic engagements, including a telephonic conversation between Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, reaffirming their commitment to close economic cooperation.

As Pakistan seeks to position itself as a regional trade hub, the M-10 Motorway stands as a flagship project for international investment. The successful execution of this motorway is expected to reduce logistics costs, improve road safety, and stimulate industrial growth across Sindh and beyond.
