Shamsoo Bibi case turns into honor killing investigation

TAXILA: Police have arrested two alleged shooters in the murder case of TikToker Shamsoo Bibi, also known as Ayesha, after investigators reportedly determined that the killing was allegedly linked to an honour-related motive involving close relatives.

Shamsoo Bibi was shot dead in Taxila on August 14, while her sister and brother sustained serious injuries in the attack. Police said the suspects were traced with the help of CCTV footage and modern investigative technology.

According to investigators, CCTV footage showed two motorcyclists opening fire on a car carrying Shamsoo Bibi and her family. The victim died at the scene after sustaining a gunshot injury.

The case was initially registered at Taxila police station under murder and attempted murder charges. Police have now initiated the process of adding the relevant legal provision concerning honour killing.

Investigators further alleged that a jirga was held in Dir involving family members to plan the murder. More than 100 people reportedly attended the gathering, where the task of carrying out the killing was allegedly assigned to Shamsoo Bibi’s cousins.

Police also claimed that her father and brother were present during the alleged planning.

The investigation initially focused on a reported financial dispute. However, investigators later concluded that the alleged motive was connected to honour. Police said further investigation is underway, while senior officials are expected to brief the media on the latest developments.
