KARACHI: At the Lahore Science Mela 2025, a landmark academic and research collaboration between the Aligarh Institute of Technology Karachi (AIT) and the University of Engineering & Technology (UET) Lahore is expected to begin soon , an initiative poised to become a major milestone in Pakistan’s scientific and technological advancement.

During the event, organized by the Khwarizmi Science Society (KSS), Universty of Engeineering and Technology (UET) Lahore’s Department of Mechatronics & Control Engineering showcased groundbreaking AR and VR projects from their Extended Reality Lab. These projects spanning construction, architecture, and biomedical engineering captivated students, educators, and the broader scientific community.

The UET team especially praised the creativity and potential of AIT Karachi’s Civil and Architecture students, calling their ideas highly impressive and promising for future projects.

Dr. Muhammad Ahsan Naeem, Director of the Extended Reality Lab and Assistant Professor at UET, formally invited AIT to engage in joint research initiatives, welcoming students to experience the practical applications of AR/VR technologies firsthand.

AIT Convener Syed Muhammad Mohsin Kazmi congratulated the Civil and Architecture Department, crediting their dedication and hard work as a symbol of a bright academic future for the institute.

AIT Principal Shahid Jamil stated that this partnership will open new avenues for advanced research opportunities and strengthen AIT’s academic and scientific presence at national and international levels.

Head of the Civil and Architecture Department (AIT), Engr. Madiha Younus,  and Engr. Syed Saad expressed pride in their students’ efforts, emphasizing their commitment to transforming ideas into practical AR/VR experiences an achievement they believe brings honor to both institutions.

Both institutions agreed that UET Lahore will provide technical support, while AIT students will prepare 3D models using SketchUp and Autodesk Revit for integration into research experiments offering students a cutting-edge and hands-on learning experience.
