ISLAMABAD: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was awarded the titles of “Leader of Peace” and “Greatest Victorious General of the Century” at the Sixth International Paigham-i-Islam Conference held in Islamabad on Wednesday. The recognition was given for his role in promoting regional stability and strengthening unity across the Muslim world.
The conference was organised by the International Tazeem-i-Haramain Sharifain Council and the Pakistan Ulema Council, bringing together religious scholars, political leaders, and international delegates. The event also strongly condemned recent attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel, calling them a threat to regional peace.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gillani, and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar attended the conference along with international representatives, including Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki and Palestinian officials.
The conference emphasized unity within the Muslim Ummah, interfaith harmony, and the importance of collective security. It also acknowledged Pakistan’s recent military and strategic developments, including Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, marking their first anniversary.
Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi reaffirmed support for Pakistan’s government and armed forces, highlighting their role in maintaining national security. He stressed the importance of stronger cooperation among Muslim countries, particularly in light of current geopolitical challenges.
In addition to Asim Munir, several national and international figures were honored for their contributions to peace and unity. Mohammed bin Salman received a special award for strengthening defence cooperation and promoting stability in the Muslim world, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was presented with a shield of appreciation for his stance on global issues, especially Palestine.
The conference also condemned acts of violence and reaffirmed that extremism and lawlessness have no place in Islam. Participants called for increased collaboration among religious scholars worldwide to promote peace and understanding.
It was announced that the next Paigham-i-Islam Conference will be held in March 2027, with broader international participation aimed at enhancing interfaith dialogue and global harmony.
