Three dead, 10 injured in strikes on Dammam airport and Saudi Aramco facility

DAMMAM: Three people were killed and 10 others injured in separate attacks on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam and a Saudi Aramco facility at the Shaybah oil field in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, according to officials.

Saudi Gazette reported that an attack on King Fahd International Airport on Wednesday evening killed one expatriate and injured eight others, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) said.

The authority stated that the injured sustained injuries ranging from minor to severe and were immediately shifted to hospitals for treatment. The incident also caused material damage, the extent of which was being assessed. GACA said further updates would be shared as additional details emerged.

Separately, Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, announced that coalition forces had intercepted and destroyed four drones in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.

In another incident, a drone attack targeting a Saudi Aramco facility at the Shaybah oil field killed two expatriates and injured two others, the Ministry of Energy confirmed.

According to an official ministry source, Saudi air defence systems intercepted a drone attempting to strike one of the oil field’s processing facilities.

The attempted attack triggered a fire in a contractor-owned vehicle outside the facility’s perimeter. However, the incident did not disrupt operations at the oil field, the source said.

The ministry confirmed that the two fatalities were Filipino and Nepali nationals, while the injured included Pakistani and Indian nationals.

Relevant authorities responded promptly and implemented the necessary safety measures, the source added.

The Ministry of Energy extended its condolences to the families of those killed and wished the injured a swift recovery.
