The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has once again cast doubt over the 2025 Asia Cup by threatening to boycott the tournament if the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting scheduled in Dhaka is not relocated.

According to foreign media sources, the BCCI has officially communicated its opposition to the meeting’s venue to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and ACC President Mohsin Naqvi. The meeting, expected to be held later this month, is crucial for finalizing arrangements for the Asia Cup, set to take place in September. However, the BCCI has stated it will not recognize any decisions made unless the meeting is moved.

This development follows recent political tensions between India and Bangladesh, which led to India cancelling a planned tour of Bangladesh. The BCCI’s stance has raised concerns over growing political interference in Asian cricket.

Observers note that this isn’t the first time the BCCI has attempted to influence the Asia Cup’s proceedings. However, ACC President Mohsin Naqvi has so far refused to shift the meeting, signaling a rare pushback against the powerful Indian board.

With participating nations including Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka, any disruption could jeopardize the tournament’s future. If the dispute remains unresolved, the 2025 Asia Cup could be shelved entirely.

As tensions rise, cricket fans and stakeholders await a resolution, but the episode underscores how power struggles increasingly shape the landscape of Asian cricket
